Dr Elizabeth Jeffers

Dr Jeffers is a palaeoecologist investigating the biogeochemical processes underpinning terrestrial carbon sequestration over long and short-time scales. She is currently researching plant biominerals such as calcium oxalate, which protects plants from biotic and abiotic stresses, influences mineral cycling in soils and may offer a novel form of permanent carbon dioxide removal in woodland ecosystems. I am also developing the use of Raman spectroscopy for rapid sensing of plant chemical traits with the aim of creating new tools for ecosystem monitoring.
