Professor Tim Coulson

Tim Coulson is Professor of Zoology and joint head of the Department of Biology at the University of Oxford.

Tim’s research investigates how demographic rates vary across genotypes, phenotypes and environments. He identifies the ecological, evolutionary and conservation consequences of this variation. He uses a mix of field observations, laboratory experiments, statistical analysis of data and the construction and analysis of mathematical models. His research has focused on mammals, birds and invertebrates.

His first popular science book The Universal History of Us: the Science of Why We Exist will be published by Penguin Michael Joseph in June 2024
