The Archive holds a small collection of photographs, negatives, and glass lantern slides including images related to the building and history of the museum, portraits of eminent naturalists and former members of staff. The collection also includes various photographs of expeditions such as Wager’s Everest and Skarrgard climbs, and Preston’s safaris, as well as lecture diagrams and slides, including those from Tolkien’s 1938 Christmas Lecture.
Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913) was one of the greatest Victorian naturalists, travellers and collectors.
